A public artwork commissioned by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Columbus, Ohio, Ribboned in Memory is an evolving installation honoring remembrance, resilience, and collective healing. Originally unveiled as an outdoor mural, the piece will continue its journey in a new interior space, carrying its message of love, connection, and community into its next chapter.
Ribboned in Memory is a floral tapestry of remembrance, connection, and collective healing. Created for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the work intertwines the symbolic language of flowers with visual storytelling to honor both legacy and love. Red roses speak to devotion and grief, while forget-me-nots and white carnations bloom in memory of lives touched and transformed by resilience, loss, and enduring affection.
At the center of the composition, two hands painted in deep shadow reach toward one another, bound by a crimson ribbon. This shared ribbon symbolizes the invisible threads of support, care, and solidarity that sustain communities in the face of adversity. Butterflies drift among the blooms, evoking transformation, transition, and the fragile beauty of life itself.
Rooted in my signature collage practice, Ribboned in Memory serves as both a personal offering and a communal altar—an invitation to reflect on the healing power of tenderness, remembrance, and human connection.
