a Cleveland-based mixed media artist and photographer driven by a passion for storytelling and capturing the human experience. My work intertwines personal narratives with universal themes of growth, transformation, and the passage of time, often expressed through intricate collages, bold photography, and floral symbolism. Each piece I create is a reflection of resilience, identity, and the ever-evolving journey of life.
I like to think of my canvases as 'beds of flowers,' where stories bloom and flourish. Flowers, for me, are more than just a motif—they are a symbolic language, with each petal representing memory, emotion, and the strength we cultivate through life’s challenges. Whether it's the delicate forget-me-nots symbolizing remembrance or vibrant roses capturing passion and complexity, my work uses floral elements to speak where words might fall short.
I believe art has the power to bridge gaps, inspire connection, and honor the beauty in every story. Through my creative lens, I aim to invite viewers into a space of reflection and discovery, where growth and transformation are celebrated as vital parts of our shared humanity.
Hi, I’m Asia Armour,
My mission is to use art as a powerful tool for reflection, connection, and storytelling. Through my work, I seek to create pieces that resonate deeply with viewers, sparking moments of introspection and conversation. I am passionate about celebrating the strength, beauty, and complexity of Black women, honoring their resilience and the transformative impact they have on the world.
At the heart of my art is the desire to bridge the personal and the universal—exploring themes like hope, growth, and transformation that touch all of us, while weaving in narratives that are deeply rooted in my experiences and culture. I aim to inspire others to embrace their journeys, see the beauty in their own stories, and find empowerment through self-expression and creativity.
For me, art is more than a medium—it's a way to connect with others, challenge perceptions, and honor the shared human experience. Through every petal, photograph, and collage, I hope to leave a lasting impression that uplifts, inspires, and transforms.
My work is a fusion of photography, collage, and floral elements, each chosen with care to tell a story that resonates on both a personal and universal level. I often incorporate flowers like roses, forget-me-nots, and magnolias, each carrying its own symbolic weight. Roses, with their layered petals, represent love, passion, and the complexities of human relationships. Forget-me-nots embody remembrance and collective strength, while magnolias speak to beauty, dignity, and endurance. These elements come together to form a visual language that communicates emotions and ideas that words alone cannot capture.
Whether I’m crafting large-scale mixed media pieces that command attention or intimate collages that invite quiet reflection, my goal is always the same: to evoke emotion, provoke thought, and spark meaningful conversations. I want my work to be a mirror—one that reflects not just my own journey, but the shared experiences and untold stories of those who encounter it. Through layers of texture, color, and symbolism, I aim to create art that invites viewers to pause, feel, and connect.
My art has been exhibited at prominent spaces such as the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Deep Roots Experience, and Cleveland Hopkins Airport, among others, where it has captured the attention of diverse audiences. These opportunities have allowed me to share my vision and voice on both local and national stages.
I’ve had the privilege of collaborating on public art projects with impactful organizations like Fresh Fest Cleveland and Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation. These partnerships have enabled me to create work that beautifies the community and tells stories that honor its history and people.
In 2024, I designed a utility box celebrating the legacy of Florence Fairfax, blending art and history to pay tribute to a trailblazing figure in Cleveland’s past. This project was a meaningful opportunity to create a piece that merges historical preservation with contemporary artistic expression, leaving a lasting mark on the community.
Additionally, my work has reached beyond Cleveland, with features in Brooklyn, New York, and Georgia, showcasing my ability to connect with audiences through themes that transcend geographic boundaries. These experiences continue to fuel my passion for creating art that inspires, empowers, and connects.
My journey as an artist is deeply intertwined with my personal experiences, shaping both my perspective and my creative process. Diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, I’ve navigated life with a mind that moves in vivid, non-linear ways. Rather than seeing this as a limitation, I’ve embraced it as a source of inspiration—a driving force behind the dynamic, layered, and deeply personal nature of my work.
ADHD has taught me to find beauty in chaos, clarity in complexity, and strength in imperfection. It has allowed me to approach storytelling with a unique lens, one that values the unexpected and celebrates the process as much as the final product. Each piece I create reflects this journey of growth and transformation, embodying the idea that art, like life, is never about perfection but about embracing the layers, the texture, and the story beneath.
I believe in the transformative power of art to heal, inspire, and connect. My work is not just an expression of who I am but also an invitation for others to reflect on their own experiences, find beauty in their imperfections, and celebrate their unique journeys. Art, for me, is both a mirror and a bridge—one that allows us to see ourselves and each other more clearly.
